let your computer do some work while you're not. world community grid is a program that does exactly that. you might've heard of seti@home (search for extraterrestrial intelligence) where you have your computer download and analyze radiowaves from space to detect any anomalies. world community uses the same principle (and even the same software nowadays), but in my opinion for a better purpose than finding aliens (don't worry, we'll show ourselves when it's the right time ;)). the projects of the world community grid are currently:

I'd say it's a good tool to download and have running. simply have your computer be useful to humanity when it's not doing anything else. and it's a beautiful screensaver too!
